INTEGRITY COMPLETES WEST VIRGINIA CATASTROPHIC EVACUATION MODELING AND SIMULATION CONCEPT PROJECT

Regional Communication is Focus for Major Disaster Preparation


Frederick, Md., December 31, 2007 – Integrity Consulting today announced the completion of its role in the West Virginia Catastrophic Evacuation Modeling and Simulation Concept Project (CATEVAC). A project designed to simulate mass exodus causing catastrophe in order to study regional communication between Mid-Atlantic states.

The mission of CATEVAC is to bring together stakeholders responsible for regional coordination in the event of a disaster evacuation. Integrity took on the role of identifying the requirements for coordination including; fuel, food, shelter, special needs, medical, jurisdiction issues and communication methods. They were also tasked with identifying the common operating picture framework and requirements for the planning and training involved with that framework. Real world implications of the plan were top priority throughout.

“Disaster preparation has been a major issue over the last ten years, regarding the disconnect between state and federal governments, particularly in crisis response,” said John Molnar, Managing Principal, Senior Vice President, commercial practice, Integrity. “This project is vital to remedying that disconnect because it examines the effects of mass evacuation after simulated disaster.”

     CATEVAC hopes to be a pilot for developing multi-state plans for massive evacuation across the Mid-Atlantic region. Its mission is to provide low-cost simulations to address the national problem of regional coordination and communication for catastrophic events and disasters.
